Healthy Eating in the City

Eating healthy foods is a new challenge in the city.

Everything is really expensive. Meals like Lean Cuisine or anything like that are just as expensive as getting a burger or quick meal at a local restaurant.

Of course, something really good about NYC is that most restaurants (depends on number of them) have to post the calorie count of each dish right on the menu. If you're going to eat something bad, you definitely know it before you do it.

I have found lots of nice markets with good produce, so I've been eating nice fruits and veggies, but those are pretty pricey too. I'm sure I'll find a good way to make it all work, but it certainly has been an adjustment.

Lead Me Not Into Temptation

The anticipated train stop where I will be going twice a day on my way to and from school is right next to a Tim Horton's. Literally.

Right next to it.

Sheesh. It's a good thing I'm poor, because this place is FULL of delicious naughtiness that I'm not supposed to eat.

On the other hand, I love all of the little fresh fruit stands and markets all around. On the way home from school, I'll have to pass through Grand Central Terminal, home of a delightful, amazing market with tons of fruits, pastries, cheeses, etc.

Of course, my lack of funds will keep my purchasing in check, I suspect.

Sure tempting though...

Hello, Junk Food

Has anyone seen any junk food lately?

No?

I know why--I already ate all of it.
